What happens when a wedding planner plans her own party? I wanted it to feel like a rad dinner party where a wedding just happened to break out. It was all about the guests and their interactions. No stuffiness no moments of boredom. Boozy shots during the ceremony, no cocktail hour where no one knows what to do with those disposable plates, no awkward assigned seating, eat when you're hungry, no pausing the fun and standing around for speeches and dances to happen, no damn cake cutting. It was fluid, it was authentic, and every piece involved had a story. The Michigan location was the golf course the brides great grandparents started in the 1920's. The ceremony was held under a tree her parents planted the day they were married. Family heirlooms and tributes were incorporated into the ring bearer pillow, the brides bouquet, and inside the grooms jacket. Specialty cocktails were devised to honor late family members and the menu was curated to highlight local farms and produce. The bride and groom and family made twelve apple pies from the groom's grandmothers recipe. All seating was constucted by the bride's godfather. We handmade the signs, banners, table runners, and donut wall. The day was not just about love between the couple, but the love that is shared between friends and community as well!
